1. HATE TO BREAK IT TO YOU

By

A journey through the night for what felt like a thousand years made me realize that light really resides where darkness is and that there’s a lot that humans look beyond and so I bring forth my pen and a bleeding heart.

Can you find solace in this deep deep miserable truth?
I hate to break it to you, but the sky isn’t always blue
Sometimes you overtake, other times you follow the queue
At times you get stuck in a loop wondering what to do
Wondering where all those beautiful memories flew away to
Or how love crept into your heart and deluded you
And why you ended up on a one-way path to solitude

“And now you’re left with no one and nothing to do”

Your heart needs her not, hers doesn’t need you too
You might’ve died for them but they only lied to you
How beautiful it is to find someone who’d lie for you
Betrayal, love, hatred and violence all lie in the truth
As you grow old and older, you always meet something new

Can you find ease in this hard hard miserable truth?
I hate to break it to you, starving kills too
But the whole world wept at the spread of the flu
When few months prior, Uyghur was killing muslims too

“There’s no cure for animosity and I hated breaking that to you”

Can you see the light in this dark dark miserable truth?
I hate to break it to you, the doctors only claim to heal you
And your leaders just use you, money won’t enrich you
And sadly, the only you you have with you is ‘u’

Can you find peace is this cruel cruel miserable truth?
I hate to break it to you, but there’s no escape
The females get raped, their honor disdained
No reason could explain, so men just campaigned
How did the yang suppress the ying to this extent?
How could we sleep peacefully when rapists are spared?

Can you feel life in this dead dead miserable truth?
I hate to break it to you, but you don’t have enough time
Neither do I, so why all the pride, the ego and the crimes
Would you rather set your soul ablaze than take an innocent life?

“Cause I’d rather procrastinate myself to death than make your choices mine”

But then I looked at the lives taken daily by terrorists and their likes
I wept for the victims and the families of the dead
I looked at the females being denied freedom of their rights
I cried in silence at the thoughts of ‘sex for grades’
I looked at Palestine, Yemen and other countries alike
I only ached in pain, there’s nothing more I could say
I looked at racism, ashamed of our kind being discontent
No matter how much your skin’s bleached, or your accent’s changed,
A racist will always be a ‘chauvin’ that will kneel on your neck to death,
I thought to my self, a racist, a rapist or a terrorist, which one can I spare?
I then properly asked myself again, which one did the world spare?

“And so i raised my hands in prayers like a hypocrite, I prayed”

I hate to break it to you, but had my wish came true, you and I wouldn’t be here.

This is by far one of the best poems I’ve read in modern times. I’m impressed not only by the wording but also by the truthfulness of every sentence. You have a gift, hone it, keep going. Kudos to you!
